Beauty abounds at the Creative Science School garden.

Some sweet sunflowers along the school wall.
Indian popping corn grown in the ancient grains bed.
Amaranth, also grown in this school's ancient grains bed.
Gourds!
Summer squash in October.
Strong and beautiful leeks.
Hoop House. Cloche for lettuces planted by third graders two weeks ago.
Some beautiful fall color.
Tiny tasty tomatoes.
Rugged Mustard.
And a thriving strawberry bed.
Feeling refreshed and inspired after a day in the garden with the students. The garden is changing with the season. Today the students helped facilitate this change by planting cover crops, something that is traditionally done in the fall.
Along with this hands on activity they learned a lesson about nitrogen fixation, why we use cover crops, and how they are part of the yearly cycle of the garden.
Hope you are enjoying these crisp days,
~Erin
