Native Plant Studies

The third graders at Atkinson Elementary (through the OLG [Outdoor Learning Gardens] Program) pick a plant to study for the year. Ms. Luk's class couldn't ask for a better Fall Day to go out and look at the seasonal changes and choose a plant to watch through the year.  The most popular plant for this class was the Indian Plum (Oemleria cerasiformis). Other popular choices were the Vine Maple (Acer circinatum), and the Cascade Oregon Grape (Mahonia nervosa).

The remainder of the year students will create a Phenology Log for their selected plant.

Loving the Fall-Time,
Aliesje
