School Garden Consultation

Our Journey Begins...

Starting in 2009, the concepts of Portland Earth Art and Agriculture Project sprouted through volunteerism in school Garden Programs. This bloomed into an integrated Garden Curriculum for an entire school. Now, consultants help establish and/or support school Garden Programs in several Portland Public Schools.
Typically either the school PTA or PTSA recruits the consultants, and together with the staff of the school help determine how to best use consultants. There are a variety of ways school's work with the Garden Consultants: general creation and upkeep of Green Spaces, or as a garden liaison between school faculty and families, or for curriculum establishment. The Garden Consultants also conduct Garden Project management, plan events, and oversee Service Learning Programs.
In addition to in-school programing, the Portland Earth Art and Agriculture Project also offers before or after school enrichment opportunities in nature and garden studies (See SEASONS). This opportunity is open to all schools of various ages, creeds, and vocations.
